I worked full time, for 35yrs, for the largest shipping company in the world, from home for the best part of the last 8yrs.
My wife, Marie and I settled in Galleywood in 2006.
We have been blessed with and enjoy spending time with our two children, five grandchildren.
Marie works at the Galleywood Heritage Centre and we both volunteer our time there, at all of the community fundraising events put on, with our local residents in mind to bring people together.
During lockdown, alongside my wife Marie, we founded the Galleywood Volunteer Group that covered everyone of our 70 streets in Galleywood with volunteers closest to the needs, whether that was prescription needs, food shopping or welfare calls. The Galleywood Volunteer Group liaised and supported Great Baddow and Moulsham Lodge volunteer groups setup as well.
My public service began when i was co-opted to Galleywood Parish as Councillor in August 2009. And residents of Galleywood elected me to be a Chelmsford City Councillor in May 2019
Looking back I realised I have been giving my spare time to public service for nearly 15yrs. Having been co-opted to Galleywood Parish Council in 2009 through to May 2024 representing the village I live in as Chairman of Galleywood Parish Council, & City Councillor since 2019 I have learnt a lot along the way.
